When I go there, the weather was good n cloudy. But a sudden rain change the whole things. When the rain started to fall and I pull up my squid light to avoid it get wet, I saw a small cuttle fish cling on to my tamban bait. I did not scoop it up as the rain is heavy.
After the rain, I check on it and it still cling on the bait even after forty five minutes of heavy rain with gusty rain. I scoop it up and hookup on my rod. I decided to cast at another spot as the guy who earlier occupied the place had ran off during the rain.
For almost three hours, I didn’t check the bait as I know it was live when I cast out. Its only when I thought of packing up that I wind back the line. I feel heavy and thought it could be rubbish as the southern wind had carry many floating rubbish on the sea.
End up it was a Fingermark Snapper about one kg and I use my rod to lift it up.

Today weather is good. Tide is on the way down and current flow is good. Live bait is plenty if you jig hard. We got enough bait and each of us cast out a surf rod with bottom feeder rig. Bait was lasting at this point of time.
Around 1900hrs, Ah An surf rod sets got a short scream on the reel. I shouted to him and he strike hard. His rod had a good bend on the tip part and I know it is a good size fish. I start preparing my gaff. The fish initially fought hard. But gave up half way into the fight. Ah An manage to bring it in near the jetty and I gaff it up. WOW!!…a big Queen fish…Quite long we never see this type of sizeable fish appear on the jetty. I weigh it and it hit the scale at 5.3kg.

Date:14-03-2022 Time: 0120am Rod: Century Vectra 13ft. Rig: Long snood bottom feeder. Bait: Fresh squid.
Tide was on the way down. Current flow was smooth. He already about to go back and started to pack his belonging when suddenly his reel screaming. Simon was first to grab the rod and strike hard. Fish on…The rod tip part had quite a good bend and we know the fish is quite sizeable. The fish struggle for sometime before started to move inward. Vincent the rod owner now took over. He fought for awhile before the fish surface up. A big long Tail brown stingray. Simon grab the gaff and got it on the mouth. I bring another gaff and hook it on the nose as we don’t want to kill it. We brought it up, have a quick picture and the fish was released back. From the size, estimate about 22-24 kg in weight.
