In surfcasting, reel are rated as light, medium and heavy. It was basically based on the reel size, the amount of poundage line about to load on the spool recommended by the manufacturer. Below are some of the multiplier that can use for surfcasting.
Abu 6500 Silver Sport Rocket
One of the most common used light surfcasting reel. Spool is light n rotate very smoothly. Gear ratio 5.3:1 Recommended for use at beach or light boat fishing. Maximun line is 20lbs mono. NOT recommended for targeting big ray.
Abu 65
00 Blue Elite
Very commonly used also. Almost the same as the silver rocket but this come with a power handle for better cranking. Gear ratio: 5.3:1 Recommended for use at beach or light boat fishing. Maximum line is 20lbs mono. NOT recommended for targeting big ray.
Daiwa Sealine 20SH
Solid built n the spool rotate very smoothly. Come with a big power handle for strong cranking. One of the best long distance surffishing reel around. Gear ratio: 6:1 Recommended for beach or light boat fishing. Maximum line is 20lbs mono. NOT recommended for targeting big ray.
Penn 180L Baymaster
Very solid built small multiplyier. Very good to used on pier, jetty or as a light boat reel where distance casting is not required. Gear ratio 3:1. Maximum line is 20lbs mono. NOT recommended for targeting big ray.
Abu 7000 
Classic Red
A medium size reel good for surfcast or boat fishing. Gear ratio of 4:1 gave retriving line at ease. Can used as a heavy beach casting reel. Maximum line is 30lbs mono. Super reel for targeting big fishes at beach or breakwater stone.
Abu 7500C3CT
Almost the same as the 7000 size. Only thing is the gear ratio is 5.3:1. Super reel for casting big bait at beach or breakwater stone. Maximum line is 30lbs mono.
Penn 555GS
Penn latest heavy surfcasting reel. Ball bearing on both size of spool gave casting very smooth. Gear ratio is 5.3:1 Maximum line is 30lbs mono. Very good casting reel with big bait at beach or jetty. Can use as a boat reel also.
Penn 155L Beach Master
Penn old beach surfcasting reel. Gear ratio 3:1. Although is doesn’t have ball bearing, it can cast quite smoothly. Very good to used as a heavy beach, boat or jetty reel. Maximum line is 30lbs mono.
Abu 8
000 Black
One of the Abu narrow spool reel. Can used for surfcast or boat fishing. Maximum line is 25lbs mono. Very rare on the market here.
Penn 2
25LD
Used for boat bottom or light trolling. Jetty angler use it as a heavy surfcasting. Lever drag gave angler more easy on controlling the drag n playing of the fish. Gear ratio 4.3:1. Maximum line is 30lbs mono.
Shimano Torium 16, 20 n 30
Used for jigging, bottom or surf casting. I use it for heavy surf casting at the jetty. It had proven very smooth drag and powerful when there is a big hook up. Now with braided line, it can load up to few hundred meter of 50lbs line.
Daiwa Saltist 20, 30
Used for jigging, bottom or surf casting. I use it for heavy surf casting at the jetty. Found it very smooth on casting and the drag is powerful.Another reel good for loaded braided line for big game fishing.
Spinning Reel
Used big 5000 n above size spinning reel for surf casting as it can load more lines. It also fast and gain more line during retrieve to avoid sinker get snag. Best is those reel with wide spool.
Surf Master 50 Multiplier.
Make in China. Ideal for trolling, boat bottom or surf casting fishing. Class as fast speed reel with a 6:1 gear ratio. Tested. It cast very smooth and the spool didn’t vibrate at all. A big size surf casting reel that hold about 300 meter of 30 lbs mono line. Great for those beginner who are on budget and wanted to have a big surfcast reel for beach fishing.
Surf Master 30 Overhead
Make in China. Smaller version of the 50. Narrow spool. Great for light boat or beach surf cast. Gear ratio or 6.1. Tested and cast super smooth like the 50. Ideal for those who on budget. Highly recommended.
CTS 12000 Surf cast spinning reel
Make in China. This reel has three version. 9000, 10000, n 12000. They hold different length of line. This 12000 version is great for jetty or beach targeting big game fish. Gear ratio is 4-1. It make winding back heavy load with easy work. Only body work is make of hard plastic. Need to be careful don’t drop. I tested and highly recommended for those who on budget.
