Shovelnose Shark
Date: 25-02-2024. Time: 2100 hrs. Rod: Penn Powergraph Surf 10 ft. Reel: Reelsking 10000. Rig: Long snood bottom feeder. Bait: Fresh Herring(Tamban)
Go in the late afternoon to jig some fresh bait. Cast out two rods on bottom feeder rig. Tide turn up around 7pm plus. Bait was lasting tonight.
Around 9pm plus, current start to flow faster. I saw my rod tip rattlle. I pickup the rod and at the same time i saw a angler winding back his line. Both our line had cross over. We entangle it and when i pump the rod, my reel start to scream. Oh..fish on..the fish start to take out line. I tighten my reel drag to put pressure on it. Manage to stop it run and i start wind back some line. It make several run before i able to take control. By now i know it is a shovelnose shark. Friends start to prepare the gaff. About 20 minutes after hookup, i able to surface it. Friend Simon Yeo gaff it and pull it up. We make some quick photos and the fish was released back to the water. It swim off immediately.

Above are those who help to bring the fish up. From left Deliang Yee, me, Ah Ho and Simon Yeo.
