My self make Urgly stick rod strike again. Tide was about to turn up. My friend there heard got reel alarm screech sound. But when we check the two sets of tackle don’t have any movement so we didn’t take any action.

It only after about fifteen minutes later i wanted to check the bait that i feel some weight at the end of the line. I can feel some struggling that i realise i had a hookup. Slowly winding back the line, a fingermark snapper surface up on the water. I get my friend to hold the rod while i grab my sotong net to scoop it up. 475g it weigh on the scale. Half the size of the one i caught the night before.

Reach there before the sunset. Tide is on the way down. Quickly setup two set tackles. Jig for live bait and got a few of it.

First cast out on this big tamban on the rod that with the live bait rig. The other rod are on a long snood bottom feeder rig.

For the pass days fishing i know the bait at this timing is quite lasting, so i didn’t check often.

Hours plus later around 1945hrs as the sky turn dark, while i was taking my dinner, I heard like got line running out from reel sound. I was sitting on the stone bench and look up at both my rod. Nothing le.. but when i stand up and look, WoW…the rod that was block by three girl who standing there the tip is bending downward n line is running out. I stop my dinner, grab the rod and strike. Yes…fish on…not so big but its struggling. Slowly i wind it back. On surface up it is a snapper. One looker offer to help and i ask him to hold the rod while i grab my sotong net and scoop it up.

Although the southern wind was blowing endlessly, last night fishing was full of excitement. Bernard and I was the only angler there before Simon Yeo join in around 10pm.

It all started around 7pm plus when i hook up a small barracuda with a fresh tamban as bait. This little fish might had come to pay the debt for his mother who had grab my bait and cut my line the night before. Haha..

Bernard got his first hookup when his fixed spool set rod tip bend and line run. He strike hard and the fish is on. It begin to run in. We thought it was a small stingray…then before it surface, it make a dash turn and run against the current flow. Wow…not stingray…its a shovelnose. I told Bernard to play slowly while i fixed up the gaff. But unfortunately, the fish managed to straighten the hook and escape before my gaff is ready. We continue to hookup few small fishes before Bernard saw his multiplier set line loosen. He strike but was snag at the bottom. I use my hand to slowly put his main line…i can feel old broken line at the bottom of the sea bed broken under my pulling. Finally its free and the fish is still at the end of the line. Bernard wind back and i scoop it up. A 2.8kg Sweetlip. His bait is defrost squid.

A while later..I saw my rod tip rattle..I strike the rod and i can feel the fish struggling. I slowly wind in and a grouper surface up. Simon Yeo grab my net and scoop it up. Weigh 1.5kg on the scale. Bait is defrost tamban.

Friends Bernard Tan caught this 2kg Threadfin salmon when the uptide current slow down. The fish is wind back by Simon Yeo who is first to strike the rod when the reel alarm scream. I scoop it up by using my scoop net.

Date: 13-07-2023. Rod: Penn Slammer 9ft. Reel: ES12000. Rig: Long snood bottom live bait. Bait: Fresh baby cuttle fish and Live kunning.

Tide had already turn down and the current is picking up fast. I manage to scoop up a baby cuttle fish and quickly use it as bait then cast it out. First check on the bait after 20 minute later was still fully intact. I cast it out again. Within a minute, i saw my rod tip bend down and the reel alarm screech. I pickup and strike..Yes fish on…slowly wind back and a good palm size fingermark snapper appear on the water surface. I used the rod to haul it up.

Around in the early morning after my last cast, when i was cutting the fish, my reel screech again. My friend pickup the rod and strike. I quickly wash my hand and take over. I can feel the fish struggling at the end of the line. Slowly wind back and a lizard shark appear. It took my live kunning bait and was hook on the lip. Unhook, took a photo and released it back.

After few days of resting, I headed back to the jetty in the late evening. Tide was on the way up. The south east wind was blowing endlessly causing the water very choppy. Tonight i only setup one set of fixed spool tackle. On my second bait change, i notice my line went slack. I tighten the line a little and the rod tip rattle. I pickup the line n strike. A little heavy at the end and follow by jerking along the line when i wind back. It turn out to be a lizard shark about two over feet long. It was deeply hook behind the throat and i can’t retrieve the hook. Decided to keep it as food.

Another night out on fishing. When the tide started to change direction, caught this Pink Fingermark snapper with a fresh kunning (yellow stripe scad) as bait.

Date: 19-05-2023. Time:20.00hrs. Rod: Penn Slammer 9ft. Reel : EA 12000. Bait; Fresh herring.

Reach there around 6pm. Still got day light so quickly jig for some fresh tamban. Was surprised as just few anglers around as compare to other Friday evening.

When night fall, I am the only angler there. Tide was up coming and the southern wind was strong. Water was choppy.

Around 20.00hrs, suddenly i saw my rod tip bend and follow by a screech on the reel alarm. I strike hard on the rod. Feel some heavy at the line end. Great..fish on…i wind back the line slowly….a threadfin appear on the water surface…i steer it close to my squid light and ask a men who was walking around to help grab my squid net and scoop it up.

Received my 66yrs birthday cake from the sea dragon king make of baby shrimp.

The tide full tonight around 2258 hrs. I just can’t resist the opportunity so decided to go for a short trip. To my surprise, the night herring was not biting as last night. After some hard work, i manage to get just eight pcs for my two sets of tackle.

Luckily, bait casted out was lasting and the reward come just few minutes to full tide. I was chatting with friend when i saw my rod rattle. I strike the rod hard and feel a fish was at the bottom end. Winding back slowly, i told my friend to get the landing net and lower down to the water surface. I drag the fish into the net and pull it up. It weighs slightly over a kg on the scale.
