Date: 08-07-2017     Time:2230hrs     Rod: Century Vectra 13.6ft      Reel: Shimano Torium 30      Line: 30lbs braided with 50lbs mono leader      Rig: Long snood bottom feeder      Bait: Fresh Squid

Evening go for another round of fishing. Tide just turn up and current was smooth. But the current half way change direction due to the tide different as going up is slow from 1.2m to high of 2.7m at 2245hrs. The down tide will from here down to 0.3m at 0528hrs tomorrow morning. So it mean down tide is super fast that why the current turn early.

Upon seeing the current change, I ask ah An to set up his squid jig as now the current was on his favor. A while later, he manage to catch one and I borrow it to use as my squid lamp pickup to attract other squid.

After one over hours of waiting, not a single squid come along and upon seeing the tide is about to full, I decide to stop catching and return the squid back to ah An as it is the only squid he caught tonight. I told him to use it as bait now as the tide had come to the golden hour which has highly chances of fish bite. He listen to me and quickly change his bait and cast out.

Ten minute later…his reel scream…He strike and the fish is on. I told him to go slow and easy as I fixed up my gaff. It take him about ten minute to gain control of the fish as the current is picking up fast. He manage to bring it close and surface later and i gaff it up. It was a long tail brown stingray weigh at 7.6kg
