Date: 03-02-2018 Time: 10.30am to 2.30pm Rod: Penn Slammer and Penn Powerstick Reel: Daiwa Saltist 40 and Shimano Torium 20 Line: 30lbs braided with 50lbs mono leader. Rig: Cable car and Long snood bottom feeder. Bait: Live tamban and dead tamban.
Reach the jetty around 10am plus. Saw two of my friends there who fish over night. They told me no fish. I joke that they didn’t do booking with the dragon king who control the sea. I told them I already use app to book some fishes. They laugh…and pack up.
I set up two sets of tackles. Both on top and bottom rig. Start jig for live tamban. Manage to get few pcs and immediately cast out. Continue to jig but can’t get any more as the current had die down.
The current flow turn early as the down tide is stronger. Still no sign of live bait even though trying non stop. One young guy lucky to get one and offer me the bait. I took and change my first rod.
Within minute, my reel screech…Strike and wind back. My first queen fish today. I gave it to the young guy who offer me the bait.
Tamban is really rare today beside the current turn. Just manage to get one or two enough for changing bait. Then 1.20pm…My reel start screaming….Strike…Yes….this time is the bottom bait that got a hook up…..Barracuda….Ya….this fish mostly feed at night….but today it must be dame hungry and grab whatever offer.
Weather is very hot. So I cut up the barracuda and keep it in my ice box. Half way through, my reel screech again…I pickup the rod and strike…ya…another surface rig hookup…My second queen fish today.
As can’t get anymore live bait and the current flow is at full speed, I decide to stop and pack up.
