Go for a short trip this morning. High tide was full around 10 plus hrs. I choose to fish on the down tide as it has a better current flow.

Bait fish was rare. Just manage to jig few pcs. So I setup two sets of tackles only on cable car rig and without bottom rig.

Around 1130hrs, while I was jigging some distance away, I heard reel screeching sound. I headed back to my rod and found that one of the rod the line gone loose. I pickup and strike, heavy at the end….slowly wind back and this queen fish surface up. I used my rod to lift it up.

Go for another trip as the high tide tonight is around 2130hrs. Current is smooth although some surface wind cause the water a bit choppy. Bait fish today is easily available. Although I cast out two sets of tackle, both fishes come from the same set.

Around 1900hrs before the last light, I decided to change bait. when I wind back, I found this small wolf herring hanging on my cable car rig. It already dead when I haul it up.

After dark I only use the bottom feeder rig. Result come in around 2020hrs. One guy come to my rod to look at my set of tackle. While he touch on my reel, suddenly the alarm sound…He got a little shock of it. haha…I pick up the rod and strike…feel heavy but not big. I slowly wind back and this marine cat fish surface up. He end up help me to haul up the fish by grabbing on my leader.

Both fishes come from the same set of tackle.

Reach there around 1800hrs. Tide was on the way up. Current is smooth but water was choppy due to strong eastern wind. Bait fish is easily available. Set up two sets of tackles. Both on surface and bottom rig.

1840hrs, I saw one of my rod the tip rattle. I thought it is the work of a gar fish. So I didn’t strike but just watch. It rattle several time than I pickup and strike. Heavy at the end of the line. Wind back and this wolf herring surface.

Today bottom bait was lasting. So I didn’t change often. When I pickup the rod and pump, I feel heavy at the end of the line. Slowly I wind back and I can feel some struggling. A small bamboo shark surface up. I lift it up unhook it, took a photo then release it back.

Reach around 1800hrs. Jig for live bait and only got one after many try. Quickly setup one set of tackle. Casted out without bottom bait. Only a live herring on a cable car rig.

I then went to jig for more bait much further away at the mid part of the jetty. Its only twenty minute later when I back at my rod that I notice the main line gone loose. Knowing could be a hookup while I was away, I quickly pickup the rod and strike. Yes…heavy at the end. Wind back slowly and a wolf herring surface up. It already dead when I haul it up with the rod.

Ya…another day of fishing. Morning is up tide and it full around 1422hrs. But the fish just don’t bite. Bait fish is plenty so very easy to get. only is no action at all beside keep changing bait.

It was only when the tide turn down that I caught my first gar fish today. Then within five minute, the same set of tackle and rig got my second gar fish.

After I landed the second Gar, I transfer the cable car rig to this rod. About half n hour later, the reel alarm goes off. I strike and a queen fish is seen jumping up on the water surface. Wind back and it was foul hook on the fish stomach…haha..

So it mean all three fishes are caught by the same cable car rig.

Still on holiday so just fishing. Today I used one of my spinning set and the result come from this set of tackle.

Reach there around 10 plus am. Tide is coming up and will be full around 1330hrs. Live herring is quite easy to get. Lots of them. I just jig enough for my use and if I need live one I will just jig again.

About 1245hrs, the current start to change direction as the down tide will be stronger so it turn early. Suddenly I hear my spinning reel sound. Wow!…this is a bigger size fish….it pull along the line…then I saw a fish jump up from the water surface…haha…gar fish…bigger size than two day ago caught. I wind in. It try hard to resist. Jump another few time before I able to bring it close. I use the rod to lift it up.

I still on my lunar new year holiday, so today I head down again. Initially thought of just fish until 1400hrs. But the fish just don’t feed. Not even anyone landed any fishes except herring. So I decided to fish beyond the time and it prove I am right. The fish just feed late today.

Come 1445 hrs, I was tying a new cable car rig. Suddenly my reel screech three time. A fish jump up from the sea surface about 50 meter away. I saw it was a queenie. It move toward my right against the current flow. Cross over my other rod, tangle another line from another angler. I keep winding in until it surface up in front of the jetty. I use my rod to lift it up.

When the tide is full at 12 plus, I notice my rod tip rattle. I move closer to it and wait. Then the fish pull the line and my reel screech. I can see the fish jump up from the water surface. I wind it in and use my rod to haul it up. A nice size Gar fish. I gave the fish to a group of foreign work who was there enjoying the lunar new year holiday.

Went for a short trip. Tide was on the way down and current is fast. Jig for live bait but only got two. Set up two sets of tackles with surface and bottom rig. Bottom bait I used frozen tamban which I brought along.

Did get a surface hookup by a Gar fish but it manage to get away without paying the price.

Bottom bait is very lasting and when I was about to pack up that I found one of the rod bottom rig got stuck. I use hand to pull it free but was quite heavy at the end. I wind back and saw a brown eel at the end of the line. Its about four feet in length.

My friend wanted to fish tonight so I make a short trip to accompany him. I was late as I make some shopping before going down. I just grab a box of squid from my freezer to share with him.

Tide had just turning up and the current just moving but smooth. Casted out the tackle and we just sit around to chat.

By 10.25pm the current start to pick up faster. Then I heard my reel sounded and my rod tip bend. I pickup the rod and strike….heavy at the end but no struggle. I thought maybe the current had carry some rubbish and stuck on my line. It was only when the rig about to surface that I feel fish struggling. As it was very dark below the jetty, I ask my friend to shine some light. Notice it was a big size marine cat fish, I ask my friend to grab my line and haul it up.
