Date: 16-07-2019 Time: 1940 hrs Rod: Shoreangler Jetty Surf 9ft. Reel: Shimano Torium 20 Rig: Long snood bottom Feeder Bait: Fresh Tamban
I had just self built a two pcs joint 9ft Jetty big game rod. Reason for building this rod is to comply within the limited length of 158cm for travel flight check in. Rod tip is 148cm and the butt part is 127cm long. I will be using this rod for my future travel fishing. So tonight trip is to test out this rod.
Reach there around 5.30pm. Tide is on the way up. Current is not strong but water is choppy due to the strong southern wind. After jig my fresh bait i set up two sets of tackle and cast out. Bait was lasting after initial check.
Around 1940hrs, my Torium reel screech. I pickup and strike. Feel some struggling at the end of the line. Slowly wind in and a Fingermark snapper surface. I use the rod to lift it up. What a good start for a newly rod.
Time: 2150 hrs Rod: Penn Slammer white 10.6ft Reel: Daiwa Saltist 40 Rig: Long snood bottom feeder Bait: Fresh Tamban
I just finish cleaning up the fingermark snapper and about to pack up. Suddenly my Saltist reel alarm sound. Strike and can feel this fish is much bigger. It make a acrobatic jump on the water surface before i bring it in. It was too heavy to lift up by the rod so I had to grab my leader line and bring it up. Barracuda is about 3kg plus.
Double for a night trip. Fish had no choice but had to take my bait as I am the only angler there at that time.
